Well, the Easter bunny hopped his way over to our house early this year. He wanted to make sure that Maddy got her basket fulled with sugary goodness (and some flip flops) before she headed off to North Carolina for Easter break.
Oh yes, you heard me correctly - North Carolina!
Dan's side of the family has some relation that moved down to North Carolina and Maddy is hitting the road this evening after school with her grandparents (aka Grampy and Carol) along with her 2 1/2 year old cousin Liv for a 6 day vacation just outside of Greensboro, North Carolina. Her suitcase was packed last night after we came home from wings and we played "the check" game this morning before she got on the bus.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with "the check" game, it is simply a method to see if Maddy has packed everything that she will need to be away from home. Hence, I say something, she says "check" if she has it. All of us have methods to make sure we have everything that we need to go away (I am a list maker myself), but Maddy and I have always played "the check" game since she started packing her own suitcases for trips. It all started back when she was going away for a weekend at Grandma's house. She comes out to the living room and says, "I'm packed"
"Ok, well then, let's play the check game. Do you have a toothbrush?"
"No, I'll go get it......check"
"A shirt and pants to wear tomorrow?"
"No, hold on.........check"
"Clean socks and underwear?"
"No, just wait.........check"
"Hairbrush"
"Um, nooooo, let me get it.........check"
"Maddy, what did you pack?"
"My bathrobe"
(she was 7) LOL
So the goodbyes have been said, off to school she goes, and our house will be unusually and unsettlingly quiet for the next 6 days. We will miss you Madeline Rose and hope you have a SUPER time! Love you <3
